Amki (the “App”) does not collect any personal information.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. No account or sign-in is required.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following on your device only:
- The cards and decks you create
- Your study and review history
- Media files such as imported images and audio
This information is never transmitted anywhere, and it is deleted when you uninstall the App.
3. Export and Import
For backup or moving to another device, you can export or import your data as an
.amki file. This file is saved only to a location you choose, and the App
never uploads it anywhere on its own.
4. Microphone and Photo Access
The App uses the microphone only when you record audio for a card. It reads your photo library only to import the specific image you pick for a card; it does not browse the library otherwise. Recordings and images are stored on your device only and are not transmitted to any external server.
5. Reading Cards Aloud
When you have the App read a card aloud, it uses the speech engine built into your device. That processing is handled by the operating system and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
6. Network Access
The App makes a network request in one case only: when you search for or download a
shared deck from AnkiWeb, it sends your search term and the deck request to
ankiweb.net. It does not sign in, and it sends no account information and none
of your own card content. If you do not use that feature, the App contacts no server at all.
AnkiWeb is a third-party service that we do not operate. Its handling of requests is governed by AnkiWeb’s own policy.
7. Sharing With Third Parties
Because the App collects no information, there is nothing to share with third parties.
8. Advertising and Analytics
The App contains no advertising and uses no analytics tools that track your activity.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
